Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has answered some key questions ahead of the Liverpool and Manchester United Sunday match during premier league news conferences.
Speaking On confidence: “I’ve never really struggled with confidence. I am not sure before a game. I am quite optimistic we have a chance. History in this case is not really important.”
While On Old Trafford: “We like to use atmosphere in our stadium it is incredibly helpful. Old Trafford is not too bad either. They said it – we are the perfect opponent.
“I don’t think there are too many teams who want to play against us at the moment – it looks like Man United are the only one!”
Another quirky quote from Klopp… he says he enjoys playing rival teams “a lot” and that “it’s the salt in the soup”.
Now On pre-match preparations against Man Utd: “It is really great. You would love to prepare a game like this for a full week but we have had international break. For both teams it is the same situation. We have had three or four days to prepare.
“We will fight 100% but we have to play football as well. That’s all I’m concerned about, a mix between outstanding attitude and really great football.”
Talking On outside talk: “Ignoring. This game is so easy. Not the game against United, the game you all play.
“When on Sky you make a combined line-up and it’s all Liverpool. It’s a joke.
“It’s a circus and we’re in the centre. A couple people want us to win, a couple want us to lose.
“I am aware of the strength of the Man Utd.”
Man Utd’s form: “We have to make sure if United want to change their season, they have to wait a week.”
On Man Utd injuries: “Yesterday no chance for De Gea and Pogba. Today it’s a maybe. Tomorrow it’s a chance.”
On the intensity of Old Trafford: “Premier League games, all of them are really intense. I wouldn’t have realised the difference until there are 500 people in the room. Whatever they do we have to be prepared for that.”
On nerves: “We are not nervous because of the winning streak and the history we could make. We are very relaxed and very ambitious as well.”
On Daniel James: “He is a really good player, absolutely. But I expect Martial, Rashford and James on the pitch. The speed they have and quality all across the pitch.”
On Leicester win and last-minute winning penalty: “I really liked the Leicester game. I didn’t understand that people said we didn’t deserve to win. We were lucky in the moment to get the penalty but the game was 100% Liverpool. They had a lot of quality but we deserved to win.”
He added: “We are not perfect but we are working on getting better.”
On recent performances: “Can we play better? Yes, of course. But first of all you have to play as well as you can in the moment. Klopp said
“We haven’t relied on winning a game without performing as the boys have performed so far.
“It’s about making the next steps and you can’t do that during the summer when the boys aren’t there.
“We have to do it in the season, that’s what we are doing at the moment.
“The next challenge is a really good opponent in a really difficult situation.”
