England Beat New Zealand To Level T20 Series And Set New Records

England beat New Zealand by 76 runs to level the series at 2-2. Dawid Malan also set a new England T20 record by reaching a century just off 48 balls.

The match which took place at McLean Park in Napier which saw New Zealand win the toss and elect to bowl. After a stunning performance by the England side, New Zealand were left to chase 241 runs but were only able to reach 165 all out after only 16.5 overs.

The English Batsman Dawid Malan, scored England’s fasted T20 century playing a major part in his teams victory. England who pulled off 241-3 with Dawid contributing 103 of those runs in his unbeaten inning, thumping away a massive nine four’s and six six’s.

England lost their first wicket in the 4th over as Bairstow was caught out by New Zealand’s Mitchell coming off a ball from Santner. England then lost their second man, Banton to an lbw bowled by Santner leaving them at 58/2. This is were the teamwork between Malan and Mogan gave birth to what was going to be a record breaking  partnership that would eventually lead to England’s victory over New Zealand.

The partnership almost came to an early end through an lbw appeal bowled by Tickner against Malan, however the umpire maintained his original  ‘Not Out’ verdict. This partnership lasted right until the final over where Morgan was caught out by Mitchell off a ball from New Zealand captain Southee.

Malan’s partnership with Eoin Morgan of 182 runs, was also England’s highest in the T20’s. Eoin Morgan also posted England’ fasted 50 in a T20 off 21 balls

New Zealand found themselves 165 all out with Southee leading the pack with 39 runs.
