Its now official, Jose Mourinho has now been confirmed as Tottenham Spurs new manager after having signed a contract until the end of the 2022-23. Spur issued the following statement confirming the appointment:
‘We are delighted to announce the appointment of Jose Mourinho as Head Coach on a contract that runs until the end of the 2022/23 season.”
In a statement to the press today, the former Manchester United manager said :
“The quality in both the squad and the academy excites me,”
“Working with these players is what has attracted me.”
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy came out in support of their new appointment to the team saying:
“In Jose we have one of the most successful managers in football.”
Jose’s first game as Spurs manager will be at this Saturday’s League game against West Ham.
Tottenham are currently placed 14th and have struggled to return to the kind of form that saw them reaching the Champions League finals. Jose has a difficult uphill battle ahead of him as the end of the season will also see Christian Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen most probably leaving the Tottenham side. Time will tell if this new merger will bring back former success for both club and manager.
