Ronaldo Haunted By Injury As He Walks Out Of Juventus Stadium

It seems after sustaining an injury to his ego after being substituted for the second time in 2 games, Christiano Ronaldo reportedly left the Juventus Stadium before the match had even concluded. Although Juventus won the game 1-0 over AC Milan in the Serie A match up, Ronaldo’s substitution seems to have been the main highlight of the game.

The Juventus star was substituted in the 55th minuteof the game by Manager Maurizio Sarri. Reuters reports that the star walked “straight down the tunnel” after giving his manager a “dirty look” after the substitution.

During the post game interview, Maurizio explained the reason behind the substitution stating

“We must thank Ronaldo, because he made a sacrifice to be there at all tonight in a difficult situation. He did everything possible to play, but I saw he was not well and thought it best to take him off.”

The injury stemming from a knock Ronaldo received during training that has affected his collateral ligaments as greatly affected his usual star performance, resulting in him being substituted twice now.

Ronaldo’s exit is what gave way to Juventus’s only and winning  goal, which came from substitute Paulo Dybala who managed to  net the only goal of the match, putting Juventus on top of the Italian Championship table as they head into the international break.

Maurizio acknowledged Ronaldo’s displeasure at being substituted but commented that it was the best decision for the player.

“It’s only natural a player is going to be irritated to leave the pitch, especially when he worked so hard to be there. Over the last month, he has had this little knee problem, he had a knock in training and it hurt the collateral ligament. When he trains at high intensity or plays, it unbalances him, so he ends up overcompensating and it damages the calf and thigh muscles.”

“It is affecting his performances and he is not at his best at the moment. All players who are trying to give their best will have at least five minutes of being annoyed when they are substituted, but a coach would in general be much more worried if he didn’t seem upset.”

No one is sure just how long this injury will affect the star and when we will once again see Ronaldo grace the pitch again with his former glory. All he can do for now is rest and recuperate over the International break and hopefully make his comeback as one of football’s greats upon his return.
