Thierry Henry is taking another shot at coaching as Montreal Impact signs him on has head coach. The former Arsenal and Barcelona player tried his first stint at coaching when he was hired by AS Monaco FC in 13 October 2018. After 20 games the team ended up in relegation after winning only four of those games under the French mans dismal command.
As Monaco, the team where he started his own professional career, decided to part ways with Henry on 24 January 2019 and he has been floating in the wind ever since.
Henry plans on bringing a bit of European flavor to the MLS squad in hopes on seeing them through to the MLS play-offs which the team have failed to achieve for the third time in a row.
It must ne mentioned that Henry does not shy away from the mistakes he made at the helm of AS Monaco and hopes to learn from the mistakes he made to help him lead his new team to victory. In true sportsman like fashion, Henry went on to explain how he believes his torrid spell at Monaco would not be his defining point as he told the press at his introductory conference:-
“You guys always remember the good stuff, but I became a better player in the darkness,”
“Hopefully that’s going to help me to become a good coach.”
“I learned a lot there. The only mistake you can make is not learning from what happened. You have to confront it.”
The French national has found a new home in French-speaking Montreal, going on to add ,
“If you take the best part of Europe and the best part of North America you will arrive in Montreal,” as he described his love for Montreal.
Henry will take to the field with his new team in mid-January next year as they meet for their first training camp.
