Pakistan’s Hopes Shattered As Australia Win Test Match 2-0

Australia went on to Win their test match against Pakistan’s visiting team as Aussie Spinner Nathan Lyon shattered the visitors hopes of bringing the home side to bat again after he finished the match off with an impressive 5-69.

Pakistan’s Shan Masood and Asad Shafiq resumed Pakistan’s innings on 39-3. They managed to score a partnership of over a century before both being taken out by Lyon with Masood falling with 68 run and Shafiq coming off with 57 runs.

Lyon went on to be the pivotal instrument in Pakistan’s untimely defeat as he further went on to take out  Ahmed, Shah and Afridi as he worked his way through Pakistan’s batting line up.

After Masood and Shafiq’s early dismal, Pakistan were pinning any hopes they had of pushing the test into another day on Yasir Shah who had scored his first Test century during Pakistan’s first innings. Shah was unfortunately dismissed for a meager 16 runs after the umpire called him out on an lbw form Australia’s Lyon.

Pakistan’s ensuing low run rate meant the team ended the day 239 all out leaving Australia to clench the series with an inning and 48 run victory over the tourists.

Pakistan’s fate was sealed when Mohammad Abbas being run out by Pat Cummins after some confusion with Muhammad Khan.

The match ended with Australia having scored 589-3 whilst Pakistan had only managed to pick up 302 and 239 all out in their 2 innings.

Australian skipper Tim Paine went on to commend his side performance in their last two test matches saying:

“Probably barring a few slip-ups yesterday in the field, I think we’ve played some fantastic cricket over the last two Test matches.

“We came back from England, we felt we were getting better all the time and it was really pleasing to get the results to start the summer.”
