Silva Faces The Sack As Everton Drop To Relegation Zone After 5-2 Loss

Marco Silva may be the next manager facing the boot as Everton dropped into relegation zone after their 5-2 loss to Liverpool last night.

Everton are now sitting at 18 on the Premiership log with 14 points after having won only 9 games out of the 15 they have played this season.

Liverpool were first on the  board with a goal from Divock Origi who scored in the 6th minute of play exposing Evertons shoddy defending which would be the key factor in their downfall as the game progressed.

Swiss International Xherdan Shaqiri increased Liverpools lead to 2-0 with another goal in the 17th minute of play. This marked the beginning of Everton’s downfall as their defense seemed to never recover after this throughout the remainder of the first half.

Michael Keane was able to put Everton on the scoreboard with a goal in the 21st minute  but Liverpool came back 10 minutes later with Dejan Lovren assisting Divock Origi to put away his second goal of the night giving Liverpool a 3-1 lead.

Liverpool’s Sadio Mané  then pushed Liverpool to a 4-1 lead in the 45th minute. This goal unfortunately caused the Liverpool side to relax a bit as they neared the half time break, a situation Everton’s Brazilian forward Richarlison de Andrade took full advantage of as he scored a second goal for Everton 3 minutes into injury time taking the teams into the break with Liverpool leading 4-2.

The Second half was awash with near misses and wasted chances from both sides as it remained goalless until Georginio Wijnaldum managed to put away a final goal for Liverpool sending Silva’s side packing, tails between their legs after a 5-2 thrashing from Liverpool.

Silva has only managed to secure 20 wins out for his 54  games since he joined Everton in 2018.

Evertons current ranking in relegation may be the final nail in Silva’s coffin as the Premiership has already witnessed a number of managers being given the boot for  failing to perform.

When asked about his future with the club the Everton manager replied :

I am not the right person to talk about this situation, different person than myself.”

“Every game I will play and it will come the same questions after the match. For sure they have to do things on the pitch but words here will change nothing.”
