Marcus Rashford’s name is one Jose Mourinho will not soon forget as the Man Utd forward paved the way for his teams 2-1 victory over Mourinho’s Tottenham Spurs at the former Manchester United manager’s return at Old Trafford.
Mourinho and Rashford have a history stemming from Mourinho’s stint as Manchester United manager. The two never saw eye to eye on where Rashfor should play on the pitch with Rashford preferring to play an attacking role, but Mourinho keeping him at center midfield.

Rashford brought up the matter earlier this year during an interview where he was asked to compare the coaching styles of former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho and their current boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjær.
He pointed out that why his performance had greatly improved under the latter’s stewardship was because Ole has experience as a player which is what Mourinho was lacking and that was the cause of the misunderstanding between the two.
“He’s [Solskjaer] very different, because he’s played he understands the players a bit more.”
“For me when a manager plays, he has lived the same lifestyle and has the same understanding.”-Â Rashford added.
Mourinho admits that Manchester deserved to win the match as the side put up a very impressive display in the first half of the game. He added:
“For 30 minutes United were not just better than us, they were much better than us,”
How ever you look at it, the star of the night was definitely Marcus Rashford as his spectacular performance let the way for his team to emerge victorious at Old Trafford.
Rashford scored his first goal 6 minuted into the game with a powerful boot from the left side that bounced off Spurs goalie Paulo Gazzaniga right arm, ricocheting off the post and into the Tottenham goal.

Rashford had two other opportunities to increase his tally with a near miss just off goal from a free-kick emanating from just outside the Tottenham penalty box.
He came close to scoring once again as a shot taken from just outside the Tottenham box was just narrowly saved by Tottenham keeper Gazzaniga who managed to push the shot, making it bounce off the crossbar.
Dele Alli scored a spectacular goal in the 39th minute in which he flicked the ball over 2 Manchester United players before going on to tap it past Man Utd goalkeeper David de Gea sending both teams level as they entered the half time break on 1-1.
Rashford continued his spectacular performance in the second half as he was brought down during a run in the Tottenham penalty are leading to him getting a penalty kick which he conceded in the 49th minute of play.
Tottenham seemed to now find their footing and kept Manchester at bay but were unable to come up with an equalizing goal. The game ended with Manchester United winning 2-1 against Tottenham.
