Leicester Historic Winning Streak Continues With 1-4 win over Aston villa

Leicester City continue their historic amazing 8 game winning streak with a 1-4 win against home side Aston Villa on Sunday.

Leicester now find themselves at second position with 38 points on the Premiership log, 6 points above chasing Manchester City and 8 points behind current Premiership leaders Liverpool.

Jamie Vardie is now leading in the race for this season’s Golden Boot having scored 16 goals so far,  a good 5 goals more than Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham who is currently sitting in second place with 11 goals.

Vardy put Leicester in the lead when he scored the first goal of the match in the 20th minute of play. Teammate Kelechi Iheanacho scored Leicester’s second goal in 41st minute to put the visitors lead to 0-2.

Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish managed to put his team on the scoreboard just before the halftime break, 2 minutes into first-half injury time. The teams entered into the break with Leicester leading1-2.

Leicester continued with their brilliant performance right from the start of the second half with Jonny Evans scoring the team’s third goal in the 49 minute of play.

Jamie Vardy sealed the victory for the visitors with his 2nd goal of the night in the 75th minute paving the way for Leicesters 1-4 victory over the home side.

Leicester City manager Brendon Rogers commended his team’s brilliant performance during the post-match interview going  on to say:

“I thought they were amazing today,”

“It’s a real historic day for the club and I thought the performance warranted that.”

“We had all types of goals today, we had a long period of possession for the second one, two counter-attacks, a set-piece and other chances. We kept going until the very end to try and score goals so it was an absolutely outstanding performance.”

Aston Villa are now just one spot away from Relegation as they find themselves at 17 on the Premiership log.
