Bukayo Saka Leads Arsenal To Top Of Europa Group F With 2-2 Draw

Arsenal has emerged as winners of their Europa Group F table as they come out in top spot after a 2-2 draw with Standard Liege.

Bukayo Saka was the man of the night as he not only assisted with Arsenals first goal, but also scored the second equalizing goal that saw Arsenal top their group.

It seems recently that England Premiership managers are looking to the next generation of players to bolster up their team’s recent poor performances as Freddie Ljungberg joined Tottenham Mourinho and Manchester United’s Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in fielding younger players only to see the gamble working out in their favor.

Saka who initially was unhappy with Manager Freddie Ljungberg’s decision to have him playing wing-back and then later full-back but the manager’s decision paid off as the young star flourished.

From the first half, the youngster was a threat to the home side having two attempts narrowly saved by Standard Liege goalkeeper Arnaud Bodart.

Arsenal’s defense almost let them down as Standard’s Medhi Carcela came close to scoring. Both teams went into the halftime break level on 0-0.

The second half saw Samuel Bastien putting the home side in the lead after scoring a goal 2 minutes after the second-half whistle was blown. A second goal for the home side by Selim Amallah in the 69th minute gave them a 2 -0 lead and the looked the end for Arsenal.

Saka then rose to the occasion creating an assist that allowed Alexandre Lacazette to score Arsenal’s first goal 78 minutes into play.

As if that wasn’t good enough, the youngster came back 3 minutes later to score his own goal and help the Gunners level the game at 2-2.

In his post-match interview, Gunner’s manager Freddie Ljungberg  had the following to  say about Saka’s performance:

“He was amazing,”

“He was a bit upset with me before the game that he had to play wing-back and full-back. He’s a tremendous talent. His final ball and last bit is always effective. Bukayo had a tremendous night.”
