Swimming has moved to Las Vegas in search of a major makeover as the pizazz and money offered in Sin City have now found its way into the world of swimming.

Vegas played host to the International Swimming League (ISL) season one series finale.
The new style and format being exhibited in Las Vegas are meant to reinvigorate the sport. With the introduction of lights, entertainment, and a bigger money pot organizers are definitely taking a step in the right direction.
The ISL made its debut in the swimming world this year and is hoping to attract more fans to the sport. it consists of 8 teams swimming in 6 meets with the top 4 scoring teams moving on to the final.
Australian swimmer London Roar went on to applaud the new format and attraction being brought by the ISL going on to say:
“I think what is noticeable about this league is how much chatter it’s creating. It’s a disruptive force,”
“I have had people who don’t follow swimming come up and talk to me.”
“And I think that really is the first step, getting the name out there and spreading the word and telling people it’s swimming reinvented, it’s a different way of looking at swimming.”
“It’s bringing swimming into the 21st century.”

The new allure of the series seems to have also inspired the athletes as well who used this opportunity to showcase for the upcoming Tokyo 2020 Olympics as 2 records were broken during the meet.
Japan’s Daiya Seto went on to break America’s Ryan Lochte’s 400m individual medley record set in 2010 by setting a new record of 3min 54.81sec beating Lochte’s 3min 55.50sec.
American Caeleb Dressel beat France’s Florent Manaudou’s 2014 50 m freestyle record of 20.26sec as he clocked in at 20.24sec.
The series offers a $100 000 to be divided amongst the members of the winning team as well as an individual prize pot of $50 000 for the MVP of the series, a race currently being led by Sarah Sjostrom.
