Manchester United’s hopes of a top 4 finish at the end of the season are slowly fading as they lost 2-0 to Watford on Sunday.
Jesse Lingard missed a great opportunity to put the visitors in the lead during the first half having overpowered a chip over Watford goalkeeper David Foster, that saw the ball hitting the top of the net.

The rest of the first half was pretty much uneventful for both sides as they went into the half time break level on 0-0.
Manchester United continued their lackluster performance well into the second half.
Luck seemed to be on after an error by Man Utd’s David de Gea allowed Ismaila Sarr to score Watford’s first goal for the night in the 50th minute. Whether through a lapse of judgment on or lack of attention, de Gea allowed for the easy ball to pass through his arms and into the goals.
Watford was able to score their second goal of the night 4 minutes later thanks to a penalty conversion by Troy Deeney after a foul on Sarr by Manchester Utd’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Manchester now find themselves on 8th position on the Premier League table with Watford having picked up a much needed 3 points as they try to fight themselves out of relegation.

Paul Pogba made an appearance during the second half of the game, ushering some life back to the Man Utd side but the damage had already been done.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer owned up to the team’s poor performance and lacking ability to utilize key opportunities during his post-game interview as he went on to say:
“We didn’t deserve to win the game by the way we played. We were too slow in possession, too slow without the ball, not enough intensity.
“We didn’t have enough to get back. You have to be out there and ready. First half both teams were slow. If you don’t take your chances you get punished. We didn’t deserve it today. They took their chances. We didn’t take our chances. You have to earn every inch, every chance.”
