They also now join Real Madrid as the second team to have won all of their Champions League group stage matches in the tournament’s current format. Real Madrid achieved this feat twice in  2011/12 and 2014/15.

Thomas Muller’s goal in the game against Tottenham marked his 28th Champions League goal at the Allianz Arena, joining the ranks of Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as one of only four players to have scored that many goals at a single venue in the Champions League tournament.

Since the 2014/15 Champions League tournament, Bayern has gone unbeaten at the Allianz Arena during the group stages of the Champions League tournament having won 17of their 18 games played there.

However, these great achievements for Bayern Munich seemed to have come at a price that was paid by Bayern forward Kingsley Coman who scored the opening goal of the night that gave Bayern an early lead in the game.

Coman was substituted due to an injury sustained in the first half by Thomas Muller who went on to also score for Bayern that game. It is reported that he sustained a capsule tear in his left knee and will be unable to assist his team as they continue their Champions League campaign for “some time” according to Bayern.
