Cricket Update: New Zealand Drop 2 Early Wickets Chasing 423 Runs To Win

At the end of Day 2 of the second test cricket between Australia and New Zealand, the visitors found themselves needing 423 runs after dropping 2 wickets.

Australia who already clinched victory in the first test of the series set a benchmark of 467 in their first innings for the visitors to chase.

Australia’s Tim Paine was to be a thorn in New Zealand’s side as he caught out both Tom Blundell and New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson today.

Tom Blundell was caught out for 15 runs whilst Hane Williamson was out after only 9 runs having faced only 14 balls. These 2 early wickets that dropped today may end up coming back to haunt the visitors.

Ross Taylor and Tom Latham remained at-bat for New Zealand as the day ended with the visitors needing 423 runs in order to have any chance of winning this series.

Australia started the day on 257/4 with Steve Smith and Australian skipper Travis Head opening up the day’s events.

Travis Head went on to score a century before being eventually being caught out by Mitchell Santner off a ball from Neil Wagner on 114 runs.

Steve Smith managed to post a total 85 runs before being caught out by Henry Nicholls and Tim Paine scored 79 before going out to an lbw from Neil Wagner.

Australia was able to score 467 all out before handing batting over to the New Zealand visitors.
