The LA Lakers were able to hold back the Phoenix Suns late-game come back and walk away with 117-107 win in their first game of the new year.

Western Conference leaders LA Lakers were able to hold back the Phoenix Suns late-game come back and walk away with 117-107 win in their first game of the new year.

Although they won the game, the Lakers need to worry about how they let such a huge lead diminish.

Lebron James got his eight triple-double scoring 31 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists.

Anthony Davis also contributed tot he Western Conference winners tally by posting 26 points 11 rebounds and 2  assists.

The Lakers dominated right from the get-go winning the first quarter 43-17. This early lead may have gotten the home side a little too comfortable as their performance began to slowly slip as the game progressed.

The Pheonix Suns comeback was bolstered by Devin Booker who scored 32 points, 2 rebounds and 7 assists in the game.

Kelly Oubre Jr also assisted the  Phoenix Suns scoring 26 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.

The Lakers continue to dominate the Western Conference with their 117-107 win and  now go 27-7 while the Phoenix Suns find themselves at 11 position going 13-21.

The Lakers will now face the Pelicans on Saturday 4 January with the Suns going up against the Knicks that same day.
