Western Conference Leaders LA Lakers continue with a 5 game winning streak after they beat Detroit Pistons 106-99. Anthony Davis and LeBron James led the Lakers as they continued their domination on the Western Conference.
Anthony Davis led the LA Lakers pack posting 24 points, 11 rebounds and 8 blocks. The Lakers almost set a new franchise record by recording 20 blocks, just 1 away from their franchise record of 21.
Anthony Davis 8 blocks almost made him become the first Laker since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in 1975, to get a triple-double including blocks.
The Lakers amazing defense allowed them to dominate most of the game, although they did lose their rhythm for a while when LeBron James was sent to the bench with the Lakers 90-81 allowing for the Detroit Pistons to catch up with a 9-1 run.
James was immediately thrown right back into the mix of things before the Pistons staged a major upset. LeBron ended the night with a triple-double scoring 21 points with 14 rebounds and 11 assists.
The Pistons had Derrick Rose to thank for narrowing the gap on the Lakers lead as he came of the bench and posted an impressive 28 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists.
Although the LA Lakers win moves them 28-7, the game once again highlighted one of the team’s greatest reoccurring weaknesses, maintaining a positive rhythm without star player LeBron James.
This is the second game in a row where the opposing team nearly made a successful comeback near the end of the game. It is precisely this inability to get on without their star players that led the Lakers to missout on their record-breaking season start.
