The NBA reigning champions Toronto Raptors lost 101-99 to the Portland Trail Blazers thanks to a basket from Carmelo Anthony in the dying seconds of the game.
The Toronto Raptors looked like they were heading for the win as they dominated the first and second quarters of the game scoring 24-15 in the first quarter and 32-31 in the second quarter.
Then after the half time, Portland Trail Blazers made a sneaky comeback scoring 23-22 against Toronto in the third quarter and causing a huge upset in the fourth scoring 32-21 in the fourth and final quarter.
Carmelo Anthony led the Trail Blazers to victory scoring 28 points with 7 rebounds and 1 assist. He sunk the winning basket of the game that snatched victory from the NBA champions with just 3 seconds to go on the buzzer in the fourth quarter.
Damian Lillard boosted the Trail Blazers score by posting 20 points, 4 rebounds and 9 assists, while Hassan Whiteside got a double-double with 14 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists.
Kyle Lowry and Serge Ibaka both landed double-doubles in the game with Lowry leading the Raptor scoresheet with 24 points 4 rebounds and 10 assists.
Serge Ibaka managed his sixth consecutive double-double scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists.
The Raptors loss puts them in 4th place on the Eastern Conference table going 24-13.
The Trail Blazers find themselves now 16-22 after their win and sit 10 on the Western Conference table.
The loss of Pascal Siakam who is out with a groin injury, Norman Pawell who has a shoulder injury and Marc Gasol who is recovering from his hamstring injury is starting to take its toll on the reigning champs and may end up affecting their chances of pulling in the championship title for the second time in a row.
