Mauro Icardi Hat-Trick Gives PSG 6-1 Win Over Saint-Étienne

Mauro Icardi scored a hat-trick as PSG went on to beat Saint-Étienne 6-1 as they move forward to the semi-finals of the French Cup.

PSG  have been on a demolition run in these past stages of theFrench Cup having just come from beating Linas-Montlhery 0-6 on Sunday.

Mauro Icardi who is on loan from Inter Milan set the pace of the game right from the onset scoring the first goal for PSG 2 minutes into play giving Paris Saint-Germain an early lead.

PSG then found themselves down to 10 men when Wesley Fofana who already had a yellow card against him was given a red card for taking down Ángel Di María in the 31st minute of play.

Neymar added to the Paris Saint-Germain scoresheet 39 minutes into play giving the home side a 2-0 lead.

In the 44th minute, a moment of confusion led to Saint-Étienne goalkeeper Jessy Moulin scored an own goal after a cross from PSG’s Ángel Di María pinballed its way against 2 defenders before ricocheting off the side post to hit an unsuspecting Jessy Moulin and bounce into the goal with  Moulin diving after it.

PSG kept the fire burning into the second half with Kylian Mbappé providing Mauro Icardi with an excellent cross that saw Icardi scoring PSG’s fourth goal in the 49th minute of play.

Mbappé and Icardi  teamed up once again finding themselves 2 on 1 against Jessy Moulin with Mbappé once again passing the ball over to Icardi to hit it in to score his hat-trick goal of the  night  putting PSG 5-0 in the  lead

Icardi later decided to return the favor as the teammates swapped roles with Icardi now supplying Mbappé with a cross allowing him to score PSG’s sixth and final goal of the night 67 minutes into play.

Yohan Cabaye was able to give Saint-Étienne a consolation goal as he scored the sides first and the only  goal of the match off of a rebound from his penalty that was stopped by Sergio Rico in the 71st minute of the game.

The 6-1 victory means that PSG now progress through to the semi-final of the French Cup as they continue to clear their path to the finals
