Inter Milan have opted to go with a swap deal for Roma’s Leonard Spinazolla meaning that Ashley Young will be staying at Man United and may end up featuring in tonight’s FA Cup line up against the Wolves.
Initially, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had announced that he would not be playing his captain Ashley Young in tonight’s game whilst the transfer talks with Inter Milan were ongoing.
Ashley Young has already rejected a one-year extension contract and although he may not be able to make his move during the January transfer window, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could lose young in the summer transfer window when he becomes a free agent.
Inter Milan were already deep in talks with Ashley Young before they found a better deal with Roma offering to swap Leonard Spinazolla for Inter Milan’s Matteo Politano as Roma are looking to replace Nicolo Zaniolol miss out on the rest of the season after rupturing his ACL on his right knee.
Ashley Young may not be happy with the unexpected extended stay at Old Trafford but club manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will definitely take this as a win as he can now use the talented 43-year olds skill and experience to help raise Manchester United up the ranks of the Premier League table as well as in pursuing the FA Cup for the rest of the season.
Ashley Young had initially said that the reason he was looking for a transfer was because of a lack of playing time. Man United has also been against Young’s transfer as they are already short-stacked due to the number of injuries sustained since the hectic festive season schedule.
Manchester still hope that Young may reconsider their offer to extend his contract once his current one expires at the end of the season but Young is seems set on leaving.
