Mikel Arteta will need a win against Chelsea should Arsenal hold any hopes of a top 4 finish in the EPL. Frank Lampard will be looking to close the gap on 3rd placed Leicester City who are currently 6 points above Chelsea.

Arsenal who are coming from a draw with Sheffield United on Saturday will be facing  Chelsea without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who is still serving out the second of his three-match ban.

Reiss Nelson is also looking like he may not feature in the game as he is still recovering from a hamstring injury he received during training.

Sead Kolasinac will also be unavailable with the Bosnian defender only expected to make a comeback in February as the club posted the following statement on their website about his injury update:

“Left thigh strain. Hoping to return to full training in the winter break period after Burnley (a) on February 2.”

Sokratis Papastathopoulos may play if he recovers from his illness in time having already missed out on the game against Sheffield over the weekend.

Chelsea have not yet fully disclosed the extent of the injury suffered by Reece James during their encounter with Newcastle where the defender limped off the pitch after a clash with Ciaran Clarke.

If the injury is not as serious as reported by Talksport who said that he was only suffering from bruising on his ankle, then he may be available to play in Chelsea’s game against Arsenal on Tuesday.

The game on Tuesday will mark the 200th time the sides have played against each other across all competitions with Chelsea having won the reverse fixture on 30 December 2019.

The Gunners have only won two of their previous 16 encounters with Chelsea in the Premier League and have not won at Stamford Bridge in their last seven EPL matches.

Mikel Arteta went on and told Football.London the following when asked about his strategy for the game against Frank Lampard:

“We will try to put the best game plan possible for that game to try to avoid the things that are going to go against us. And, like we always do, try to convince the players to do them as much as possible.”

“Bear in mind that there is an opponent that has got the strength but has also got the weaknesses that we’ll have to try to highlight.”
