Jurgen Klopp has stuck it to the FA as he has officially refused for his Liverpool first-team players to participate in the FA Cup replay against Shrewsbury.

Jurgen Klopp and the FA have been on a collision course ever since Jurgen and Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola raised their disapproval of the FA Cup demanding festive season matches that has left clubs reeling with the aftermath of player injuries across the Premier League.

Jurgen and Pep both requested that the FA restructure its festive season fixtures to allow players to have time to rest as they at times face 2 games within 48 hours of each other making the players more prone to injury due to fatigue.

Last week the FA slapped back at the two coaches stating that it would not be changing their current structure much to the disappointment of players and fans.

Instead, they went on to schedule more matches during the official Premier League winter break which has been met with a lot of disapproval throughout the Premier League community.

In retaliation to this Klopp has announced that neither he or the Liverpool first team will be playing in the FA cup replay scheduled on the 4 February and instead Shrewsbury will play Liverpool’s u23 youth squad ‘the kids’.

This decision has split the football community in half with some calling for Jurgen’s head for his disrespect for the FA Cup whilst understand enough, it has also brought together fans from different rival clubs in support of Klopp and his decision to stand up and protect his players.

The internet is awash with memes both in support of Klopp’s stand as well with those who are against it.

With big names such as Marcus Rashford and  Harry Kane just to name a few who have all fallen victim to injury as a result of the strenuous festive season schedule that saw 74 players injured between 21 December- 2 January it is perfectly understandable as to why Klopp is calling for change.

As for Klopp, it seems that if the FA won’t give the players the respect and support they deserve, then Jurgen Klopp won’t give the FA any respect back as he has insisted that he and his Liverpool squad will be instead chosen to respect the official Premier League Winter Break even if it means losing out of the FA Cup.
