Arsenal have secured another player before the end of the January transfer window signing Southampton right-back Cedric Soares on a loan deal.
Mikel Arteta continues on his quest to strengthen the Arsenal backline after already having signed Flamengo defender Pablo Mari earlier this week.
Cedric Soares will be on loan to Arsenal until the end of the season at which time his current contract with Southampton will expire.
Cedric Soares joined Southampton from Sporting Lisbon in 2015 where he has made a total of 138 appearances and has scored 3 goals in his time with the club.
The right-back who is currently suffering from an injury will not be able to make his debut appearance when Arsenal take on Burnley during their Premier League encounter on Sunday.
Mikel Arteta will just have a little longer to wait to see whether the investment made by Arsenal in right-backpays off.
Edu who is the technical director at Arsenal expressed full optimism in what he believes Soares will contribute to the team’s defence, going on to say:
“Cedric is a defender with good experience of the Premier League, and of course at international level.”
“He is another strong addition to our defensive unit who will provide our squad with quality. I know he is a player who plays with absolute full commitment and energy.”
“We are all looking forward to going into the last stages of the season with Cedric as part of the club.”
