Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta may have his sights on a big signing from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich as the club go after Jerome Boateng.

According to Sky Sports Germany, Arsenal have begun talks and are willing to take the defender off Bayern Munich’s hands for a fee of £12.8 million.

As Arteta looks to strengthen the Gunners backline, Jerome Boateng would definitely be a plausible candidate as he already needs to replace Calum Chambers who is out for the season due to injury.

Having started in less than half of Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga games this season, Jerome has made it no secret that he is looking to leave the club given the opportunity during the Winter Transfer Window.

Boateng is no stranger to the English Premier League having made 24  appearances for Manchester City from 2010-11.
