Juan Mata Sends Man United Through With 1-0 Win Against Wolves

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will gladly take the win but will definitely need to make some improvements to his side should they wish to have any chance of progressing further in the upcoming FA Cup rounds.

The second half started slowly with Wolves playing it deep leaving Manchester United unsure how to penetrate their defense.

AS the game progressed Man United once again found their stride with Martial and James teaming up to challenge Wolves goalkeeper Ruddy.

Wolves then began to play offensively with Traore making a run on the Man United goals in the 58 minute of play only to have his run narrowly stopped by Maguire.

Manchester were finally able to put themselves in the lead from a counter-attack as Martial set up Juan Mata who was able to draw out Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Ruddy and chip the ball into the visitor’s goal.

Manchester nighted were now leading 1-0 in the 67 minute of play.

The celebrations were held off for a bit as the VAR inspected the run to check if Mata was onside which he was and the goal was allowed as play resumed.

Wolves didn’t take this lying down as they immediately tried to level the game but the attempt by Neto and Traore comes to nothing.

Manchester are given a scare as Rashford is knocked down in the 76th minute of play. He is able to get up though.

Three minutes later Rashford is back down on the ground clenching his lower back in pain. He is able to get up again but this time he’s replaced by Jesse Lingard and makes his way down the tunnel.

Wolves continue to fight right up until the end with Jimenez coming close to setting up Gibbs-White for the equalizer during the 86th minute, however, the chip was slightly out of reach for Gibbs-white.

Try as they might the Wolves were unable to find that much needed equalizing goal giving the home side a 1-0 home win meaning they now move on to the fourth round of the FA Cup
