Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Names Harry Maguire As New Man United Captain

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has named Harry Maguire the new Manchester United captain. He will be replacing Ashley Young who is scheduled for a move to Inter Milan pending his medicals today.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has named Harry Maguire the new Manchester United captain. He will be replacing Ashley Young who is scheduled for a move to Inter Milan pending his medicals today.

Ashley Young has  had his future in the club blowing in the wind with many unsure whether his move to Inter Milan would happen before the end of the January transfer window.

Harry Maguire joined Manchester United in July 2019 after the club bought him from Leicester City for £80 million.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said the following  when announcing the English center-back as his squad’s new captain:

“Harry has come in and been wearing the captain’s armband and he will keep wearing it,”

“He has been a leader in the group and I have not been surprised but impressed with his leadership skills.”

The Man United manager also gave out some bad news stating that he was unsure that Marcus Rashford would be fit enough to play in Sundays Premier League game against Liverpool.

Rashford suffered a back injury during the FA Cup replay match against Wolves on  Wednesday which saw him leaving the pitch in agony.

Speculation has been rife as to the extent of the injury but Ole has tried calming down fans but stating that although it is not certain he will be ready in time for the game on Sunday, there is a possibility that he might recover in time.

Solskjaer had the following to say on the matter:

“We’re going to give him the absolute amount of time but I am not going to hold my breath.

“I would think that he probably wouldn’t be ready but he’s still got 48 hours so let’s see.”

Manchester United are currently sitting 5th on the English Premier League table with Liverpool 27 points above them at the top.
