Osaka And Gauff On Collision Course As Coco Makes It To Round 3

Coco Gauff has been making waves at her 1st Australian Open appearance having gone and beaten Venus Williams, whom she faced in the first round and beat in straight sets once again.

She then pulled off a great comeback against Sorana Cirstea who she beat after going down in the first set. She ended up progressing to Round 3 of the tournament having won that match 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.

Although Naomi Osaka and Coco Gauff have already faced off, as some of the youngest players featuring at the Australian Open as well as both of their recent successes in the Tennis world, their matchup is definitely going to be a must-see event.

Just their character, determination and professionalism has earned both these women a huge following and it will be interesting to see who spectators rally behind during the showdown as both seem equally loved.

2 time Grand Slam title winner Naomi Osaka is the defending champion having won the title last year on the backdrop of winning the US Open against Serena Williams in 2018 going on to become the first Japanese woman to win a Grand Slam singles title.

She is also currently ranked no 3 in the world.

Coco Gauff is the youngest ranked player in the Women’s Tennis Associaton (WTA) top 100 as she is currently 66th.  She made waves when she won her first WTA title at 2019 Linz Open.

With both women having taken a notch out of  Venus and Serena Williams at one point of their careers it will be interesting to see how the match plays out.
