Premier League Title Race For Liverpool May End Earlier Then Expected

Liverpool may be confirmed as the Premier League champions earlier than expected should Manchester City have Premier League points deducted from them alongside their fine and 2-year ban.

Liverpool may be confirmed as the Premier League champions earlier than expected should Manchester City have Premier League points deducted from them alongside their fine and 2-year ban.

Manchester City has been found guilty of “serious breaches” of the UEFA Financial Fair Play (FFP).

The nature of this not only impacts their fate in UEFA competitions but also in their domestic leagues which may force the Premier League to follow suit and punish the club by deducting points.

The judgment was passed on Friday night following years of investigation by the UEFA  Adjudicatory Chamber.

Alongside the 2 year ban, Manchester City was also hit slapped with a £25 million fine.

It is still unclear if the Premier League will go through with the punishment as Manchester City are appealing the case in the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The reason the Premier League would be involved in this matter is that in order to get a Premier League license, clubs must provide correct information about their financial standings meaning that Manchester City also sent through incorrect information to the Premier League.

The points deducted from them may just extend the gap in the race for the Premier League title for Liverpool, although they would still need to deal with Leicester City who are currently just 1 point behind Man City before they are crowned Premier League champions.
