Arsenal have their Champions League (CL) hopes renewed after the Premier League (PL) winter break with a comfortable 4-0 win over Newcastle and the news of the Manchester City Ban.

Should the Manchester City ban stick, that would mean that any team that lands the fifth position on the Premier League table will now be able to qualify for Champions League.

Arsenal’s 4-0 win over Newcastle on Sunday has moved them up to 10th position on the Premier League table, just 6 points behind Tottenham who are currently at fifth position.

In the first half of the match against Newcastle, it looked as though the Gunners would be heading for their 14th draw of this season as both teams went into the halftime break goalless.

In the second half, Arsenal then came alive as a header from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang put away the first goal for the Gunners in the 54th minute of the game.

Pepe followed up just 3 minutes later to give the Gunners a 2-0 lead as the team began to show the expected results of the Premier League winter break.

Alexandre Lacazette who came on as a substitute orchestrated the third goal for Arsenal with a pass to Mesut Ozil that saw the German scoring for the Gunners right on the 90th-minute mark.

Lacazette then went on to score his own goal 5 minutes into injury time to secure Arsenal a 4-0 win over Newcastle.

In Mikel Arteta’s men are able to maintain this new found drive and form they have coming from the winter break and with just 6 points separating them from fifth placed Tottenham, they still have a very strong chance of finding a way into Champions League contention.
