Rookie Zion Williamson led the New Orleans Pelicans to a 128-115 win over Portland Trail Blazers in Friday's NBA basketball game.

Rookie Zion Williamson led the New Orleans Pelicans to a 128-115 win over Portland Trail Blazers in Friday’s NBA basketball game.

Even without an injured Damian Lillard, the Pelicans dominated in all but the final quarter of the match.

They started off strong with Jrue Holiday scoring the side first 3 pointer just seven seconds into the game.

Zion Williamson led the Pelicans score sheet scoring 25 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Next in line for New Orleans was Jrue Holiday who managed 20 points with 2 rebounds and 9 assists. Brandon Ingram helped bolster the team to victory scoring 16 points with 4 rebounds and 6 assists.

The rookie would have added more to the tally but was let down by his free throw accuracy only scoring 5 of his 10 throws from the free-throw line.

The Pelicans dominated on three-point accuracy scoring 18 (52.9%) of their 34 attempts.

The Trail Blazers started slow but picked up momentum from the third quarter going into the fourth as they reduced their point deficit but it was little to late as the Pelicans benefited from the cushion of their early lead going on to win the game 128-115.

CJ McCollum led the Trail Blazers with a double-double scoring 27 points with 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Carmelo Anthony followed up with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 1 assist while Hassan Whiteside also managed a double-double with 19  points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists.

This is the third straight loss for the Portland who currently find themselves 9th in on the Western Conference table going 25-32.

The Pelicans go 24-32 as they find themselves at 11th spot in the Western Conference, just 4 games off an 8th seed spot in the NBA.
