The Coronavirus has negatively affected a lot of sporting events across Asia and now even gone as far as affecting games in Italy after breakout cases of the Coronavirus were confirmed there last week. Sporting organisers arranged for football matches to be played behind closed doors.

Japan were meant to play the home leg of their Davis Cup match against Ecuador which would decide which team would progress through to the finals to be held in Madrid later this year in November.

“The International Tennis Federation made the decision to play the tie behind closed doors in consultation with the Japan Tennis Association, following advice from Japan Sports Agency and the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare,” was the statement made.

The football J-League in Japan has also been postponed until March as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak.

With Tokyo just months away from hosting the 2020 Olympics, concerns are growing on whether or not the Coronavirus outbreak will be contained in time for the worldwide event.

The Coronavirus has laid waste to sporting events across Asia with fans in South Korea being checked for symptoms before being allowed admittance into the stadiums and Vietnam going as far as to totally ban any hosting of sporting events.

Most Italian football matches this week will be played behind closed doors in an effort to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus which has now become problematic in Italy.
