Jayson Tatum led the Boston Celtics to a hard-earned 141-133 win over LA Clippers in the last game before the NBA All-Star break.

The closely contested game was sent into overtime when both teams ended the fourth quarter on 114 points each.

Jayson Tatum managed to make his way past Kawhi Leonard in the over-time to put the Celtics 127-124 up with just 24.8 seconds remaining in overtime, but Landry Shamet sent the game into a second over-time sinking a3 point shot for the Clippers just before the buzzer.

In his post-game interview Tatum went on to say as he spoke about his return to form after his bad performance earlier this week :

“This was a tough one,”

“It’s nice to go to the All-Star break with a win and enjoy those moments off.”

“Just a lot of hard work,”

“My teammates trust me and vice versa. We do a good job of getting the hot guy the ball whoever it is.”

The Celtics managed to pull broke in front in the second over-time scoring 14 points against the Clippers 6 points to give them the 141-133 win.

Jayson Tatum led the score sheet for the Boston Celtics scoring 29 points, 9 rebounds and 1 assist. Marcus Smart boosted their tally with 31 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.

Gordon Hayward was the only player for the Celtics to get a double-double with 21 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists.

Lou Williams helped keep the LA Clippers in contention scoring 35 points with 6 rebounds and 8 assists.

Kawhi Leonard and Montrezl Harrell followed up, both with a double-double asĀ  Leonard made 28 points with 11 rebounds and 4 assists, whilst Harrell came through with 24 points 13 rebounds and 3 assists.

The Celtics made a surprise announcement to their fans that former player and 2008 NBA Champion Kevin Garnet would have his no.5 jersey retired next season in his honor.

Kevin Garnet helped the Boston Celtics to secure the NBA Championship in 2008 as well as won the NBA 2008 Defensive Player of the Year.
