As PSG take on Borussia Dortmund in the next leg of the UEFA Champions League, we get to see Erling Braut Haaland and Kylian Mbappe go head to head during the encounter.
The two young talented football stars are poised to take over from legends Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi and the up and coming generation of football greats.
Erling Braut Haaland has already taken the football world by storm this season as he paves a name for himself with Dortmund.
Haaland already started his record race upon arriving at Borussia Dortmund in January for €20 million from Red Bull Salzburg.
Scoring 3 goals in 20 minutes for Dortmund against Augsburg, Haaland became the first player to score a hat-trick on his debut as a substitute in the Bundesliga.
The 19-year-old has to date recorded 9 goals in 6 appearances for the Bundesliga club.
Although the Champions League encounter will see them going head to head, Haaland has looked to Kylian Mbappe as a role model stating:
“When I was in Salzburg, I started scoring goals, but I look at Kylian Mbappe banging in Ligue 1 goals, so you can always reach a higher level,”.
Kylian Mbappe who is the second-youngest player to score in a World Cup Final following football legend Pele, has also put away 100 club goals already.
Already a World Cup winner at the age of 21, Mbappe is has won a total of 3 Ligue 1 titles with two different clubs and is currently France’s player of the year.
His 19 goals in the Champions League make him the youngest player to reach that figure before his 21st birthday.
As the two rising stars clash in Tuesday’s game, we may get a glimpse of the generation rivalry that looks set to replace that already witnessed between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Borussia Dortmund host PSG on Tuesday in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16.
