Tottenham Pull Of Last Minute Win Over Southampton

Tottenham narrowly won their game FA Cup match against Southampton 3-2 thanks to a penalty in the final minutes before the end of the second half.

Jose Mourinho’s side were able to narrowly scrape through a victory after being held toe to toe with Southampton throughout most of the game, though Southampton had opportunities to take the lead.

Tottenham were given a break when Tanguy Ndombele had his shot deflected by Southampton defender Jack Stephens leading to an own goal 12 minutes into play to give Tottenham an early lead.

Shane Long leveled the scoreline and put Southampton back into the game with his equalizing goal at the 34-minute mark. Both teams went into the halftime break level at 1-1.

Southampton were able to finally able to break the deadlock thanks to Nathan Redmond who passed the ball of to Danny Ings who put it past Hugo Lloris to give Southampton a 1-2 lead.

Tottenham were not taking this lying down as they fought back 6 minutes later with a tag-team effort by Lucas Moura who passed it off the ball to Dele Alli who in turn passed it back to Moura. Moura worked his way past Jannik Vestergaard and then went on to shoot and score Tottenham’s second equalizing goal in the 78th minute of play.

As the game neared its end and with tensions raised between the two teams, Tottenham were able to secure themselves a penalty in the 86th minute when the visitors’ goalkeeper Angus Gunn took down Son Heung-min.

Son Heung-min did not miss this golden opportunity as he managed to score the penalty kick and give Tottenham the winning goal they needed to beat Southampton 3-2 and make their way through to the 5th round of the FA Cup.
