Ronaldo will be able to spend more time tending to his mother who suffered a suspected stroke on Tuesday after the 2nd leg of the Juventus vs AC Milan Italian Cup match was postponed due to Coronavirus scares.
With the death toll from the Coronavirus now at 79 people after 27 more succumbed to the virus in a 24 hour period, Italy decided to postpone the 2nd leg match between Juventus and AC Milan for public safety.
Along with this, they have also decided to cancel all sporting events in Lombardy, Veneto and Emilia Romagna as well as two other provinces.
Ronaldo’s mother, Dolores Aveiro who already battling cancer, was reported to have had a blood clot removed from her artery according to Goal.com
Cristiano Ronaldo who left for Madeira on recently posted on his Twitter account that his mother was now stable as he went on to thank everyone for their support.
“Thank you for all your messages of support for my mum. She is currently stable and recovering in hospital. Me and my family would like to thank the medical team looking after her, and kindly ask that we are all given some privacy at this time,” he tweeted.
As no updates have been given on when the Italian cup fixture will take place after being postponed, supporters will now have to wait until April to see Juventus vs AC Milan as they meet up in the Serie A league.
The sporting calendar in Italy has bee turned upside down as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak leaving organisers with no option but to either play games behind closed doors or postpone matches.
