The decision by the FA to expunge the 2019-20 season for all football below National League may see them embroiled in lawsuits as the news is not well received by some clubs.
Although the idea of cancelling the rest of the season due to the Coronavirus pandemic and nationwide lockdown in the UK, the idea that the matches and results from 2019-20 season being expunged from the record books is the something that most teams won’t stand for.

This decision taken by the FA to expunge the season for competitions below the National League, greatly disadvantages teams such as South Shields who were expecting a promotion from the Northern Premier Division. The financial losses for from the FA’s decision has forced the club to take legal action should their appeal fail.
South Shields chairman Geoff Thompson sent the following message on Twitter
“SSFC will be writing to the FA in the strongest possible terms and will seek an appeal or will take legal action.”
“Whatever the outcome following this appalling decision the club will continue as before. However, there is no denying this decision has a huge financial impact.”

“We have invested heavily this year in a host of areas and the loss of promotion will also affect some of our revenue assumptions for next season. My message to all our SSFC fans and sponsors is – sorry, a huge disappointment and we’ve all been badly let down.”
The FA still hopes that it will be able to finish off the season in its top-flight competitions otherwise this may just be the beginning of their legal woes.
