Premier League Clubs are calling for the season to be cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that has laid havoc to the football calendar. England is currently under lockdown, sporting disciplines have been cancelled in compliance with government social distancing guidance.
Football Leagues in England had previously agreed to suspend the current season until April 30, but with the current spike in Coronavirus cases across England, clubs are now seeing the prospect of completing the remainder of the season as being unrealistic given the current situation.

In order for the season to be cancelled, 14 out of the 20 Premier League clubs would have to vote in favour of the decision.
Liverpool who have dominated most of the season and are only two games away from being declared champions have the most to lose should the season be cancelled as they last won the Premier League trophy during the 1989/90 season.
The call for the season to be cancelled come after the FA announced that it would be cancelling all competitions below National Football League level and expunging the season.

According to the Daily Mail, a high ranking club official wen ton to say:
‘You just start (the Premier League season) again and there are very few losers. Liverpool, I know. But in the grand scheme of things, honestly, it really doesn’t matter. You’ve just got to start again.”
“This (COVID-19) is going to get worse here (in Britain), so it’s not about players returning to training. If we all stay at home and self-isolate for the next two, three months, we’re going to get through this quite simply.”
“We look like petulant, ridiculous children now. I passionately believe what we’re doing is wrong.”
On April 3, Premier League shareholders will be meeting to discuss a date when competition can resume and probably the possibility of cancelling it altogether if the COVID-19 situation across the UK has not improved.
