Manchester City confirmed that the mother of manager Pep Guardiola passed away after contracting COVID-19. 82-year-old Dolors Sala Carrió passed away in Manresa, Barcelona.
This comes after the Manchester City manager made a £920,000 donation in March to the Angel Soler Daniel Foundation in order to help them procure ventilators and other necessary equipment in the fight against COVID-19.

The club sent out the following statement in support Pep Guardiola:
“The Manchester City family are devastated to report the death today of Pep’s mother Dolors Sala Carrió in Manresa, Barcelona after contracting Corona Virus. She was 82-years-old.”
“Everyone associated with the club sends their most heartfelt sympathy at this most distressing time to Pep, his family and all their friends.”
Dolors Sala Carrió leaves behind 4 children with Guardiola being the third born.

Spain is currently the feeling the full brunt of the coronavirus in European having recorded a total of 135,032 cases of COVID-19 and 13,169 coronavirus related deaths so far.
Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak sent out is condolences to Guardiola and his family saying:
“Our prayers and heartfelt sympathies are with Pep and his family at this overwhelmingly sad time. He and they have the love and support of the entire City family.”
