Mikel Arteta who joined the Gunners in December 2019, will be using the summer transfer window to put together the squad he believes will get Arsenal back into the Premier League top 4 as well as back into the UEFA Champions League.

Unai Nunez would help bolster the Gunner’s shoddy defence that has continuously let them down in the past, however, the deal is not yet set as other clubs are said to also be willing to match the Arsenal bid for the Athletic Bibaos defender.

Unai has only secured a permanent spot in the Athetic starting line up in the second half of the season but Mikel Arteta is confident that the midfielder will help Arsenal strengthen their defensive shortfalls.

Arsenal still have many hurdles to face before clinching the deal with Nunez as Manchester City, Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and West Ham have all shown interest in the youngster, offering to pay off the release clause.

Athletic Bilbao are also looking to see if Unai is willing to extend his contract with him as it expires in 2023.
