Premier League club Arsenal stated they will not be using the government furlough scheme and will be paying their staff full wages until the end of May.
The Coronavirus pandemic has caused the suspension of the top-flight season until at least end of April and the North London club had first agreed to pay employees until the end of this month.

“All our employees are receiving their full salaries and we plan to continue this. We are not currently intending to use the government’s furlough scheme” Arsenal said in a statement.
“In addition to our employees, we are extending our commitment to pay casual workers on our payroll from the end of April to the end of May.”
“For our match-day casual workers this means they will be paid for all four Premier League games that have been postponed and will be paid again should they work at these games once re-arranged.”

A couple of Premier League clubs had first agreed to use the government’s scheme to temporarily assist paying the staff during the shutdown. But Bournemouth, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur reversed their decision due to the backlashes from their fans.
Arsenal said that they were talking with their players in relation to “potential financial challenges” in the future but hadn’t reached a decision yet.
West Ham United and Southampton announced last week that they would be postponing their players’ wages to cope with the financial impact of the pandemic.
