Wrestlemania is the WWE main event of the year and this year it took on a special twist being held as a 2-day event.

The summary of the top matches from day 1 at Wrestlemania 36 in Florida were as follows:

Women’s Tag Team Championship

Bliss and Cross were able to emerge victorious  grabbing the Women’s Tag Team Championship title for the second time as they went on to beat Kabuki Warriors, Asuka  and Kairi Sane

Raw Women’s Championship

Becky Lynch was able to hold onto the Raw Women’s Championship title after pinning challenger Shayna Baszler. Baszler dominated most of the match, coming very close to catching Becky Linch in the Kirifuda Clutch which ironically turned out to be Baszler’s downfall as Becky Lynch managed to counter the move leading to her pinfall victory.

Smackdown Tag Team Championship

One of the highlights of the night was the Ladder match between Jimmy Uso, Kofi Kingston and John Morrison representing their teams for the Smackdown Tag Team Championship belts. Ultimately John Morrison managed to retain the titles after being knocked off the ladder and taking the suspended belts along with him to victory.

Universal Championship

Florida also played host to the match between Braun Strowman and  Goldberg for the Universal Championship title. In an action-packed match that saw spears and power slams being exchanged between the two WWE powerhouses, Strowman was able to out grab the pin and walk away with the title.

Boneyard Match

Finally,  it wouldn’t be Wrestlemania without as special appearance by the Undertaker who took on AJ Styles in a Boneyard Match. This math was more like something out of a street brawl rather than a wrestling match but definitely just as exciting with the Undertakerdominating AJ Styles to the point of having the superstar begging him to spare him from the grave. Then again, it’s not a grave until it has a body in it, and so the undertaker ended the night kicking AJ Styles into the empty grave and covering it using a tractor.

And this was just the start of a  very special 2-day Wrestlemania 36 event that was to entertain those stuck at home in a bid to stop the spread of COVID-19.
