Highlanders Beat Hurricanes To Nehe Milner-Skudder

All Black winger Nehe Milner-Skudder is set for a return to Super Rugby. The 29-year-old has signed for the Highlanders and is set to join the team on Monday, May 18.

The 2015 World Cup winner signed for Toulon last year, however the COVID-19 pandemic and a shoulder injury did not allow him to feature for the French outfit.

Milner-Skudder played for the Hurricanes from 2015-2019. He had an exceptional season with the ‘Canes that saw him win World Rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year in 2015. The winger featured 35 times for the Hurricanes but now looks to make his mark at the Highlanders.

In a statement released on the Highlanders website, Highlanders CEO, Roger Clark, said, “We are excited to welcome Nehe and Hanna to the Highlanders family. A player of Nehe’s calibre and his level of professionalism is going to add great value to the team.”

The winger did have the option to re-join the Hurricanes, “We had a contract offer in front of him, but he decided he wanted to go to the Highlanders,” said Hurricanes coach Jason Holland told the NZ Herald.

“I’ve heard some unreal things about the Club and the culture at the Highlanders. I’m really looking forward to the move to Dunedin and embracing everything it has to offer. I’m excited for this new opportunity and can’t wait to get into some Mahi with the boys and lace up the boots for the Highlanders”, said Milner-Skudder.

The Super Rugby Aotearoa will start on Saturday, June 13. The opening game will see the Highlanders play the Chiefs in Dunedin.
