Mamelodi Sundowns Secure Pitso Until 2024

Pitso Mosimane has signed a four-year extension with Mamelodi Sundowns. The club president, Dr. Patrice Motsepe announced on Thursday, May 21. It will see him stay at the club until 2024.

“I’d like to thank everybody’s contribution to where we are. I’m pleased to confirm that I’ve signed a four-year contract with the club I dearly love. I’d like to thank the president, Dr. Motsepe, and the board, for the confidence they have shown in me to lead the team for an additional four years,” Mosimane said.

The 55-year-old has been in charge at Chloorkop since 2012, he has been immensely successful. He has won four Premier Soccer League (PSL) titles, a CAF Champions League, the Caf Super Cup, two Telkom Knockout trophies, and a Nedbank Cup as well.

Mosimane is the most decorated PSL manager however he believes that Downs can do better.

“When you master the way you play, you are able to bring results so I think nine trophies is bad in seven years, we can do better of course but just win a trophy every year, one or two…I want to stay because I love the team,” said Mosimane.

“We are pleased to announce that we have renewed the contract for a further four years,” Motsepe said. The club president went on to hold Mosimane in the same light as Manchester United legend, Sir Alex Ferguson. In addition, Motsepe reiterated his faith in the Downs coach, saying that he would have him for eight years if possible.

The Downs coach is looking to be the first coach to win five league titles in the PSL era. The current Absa Premiership holders are second in the league. Sundowns currently trail Kaizer Chiefs by 4 points.
