Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has begun negotiations with Inter Milan for Mauro Icardi. He has been on loan with the French club since September 2019.
PSG’s opening offer to Inter Milan as reported by Sky Sports is £44.7m (€50m) plus a further £8.9m (€10m) in add-ons.
The Argentine has performed well for PSG, scoring 20 goals in 28 appearances across all competitions. Nevertheless, Neymar is clearly seeking a way back to Barcelona and Edinson Cavani is out of a contract in the summer. It is important for The Parisians to tie down Icardi.
The Italian giants could let the 27-year-old depart for the right figure after Romelu Lukaku has filled the striker’s role for Milan. Lukaku has managed 23 goals in 35 appearances across all competitions. Furthermore, Lautaro Martinez has contributed 17 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions.
Serie A will be completed by August 20 according to the Italian Football Federation (FIGC). Subsequently, the 2020/21 season will commence on September 1. PSG are Ligue 1 champions after the league was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The FIGC expressed its desire to restart and complete the national professional competitions by setting the last closing date of the Serie A, B, and C competitions to August 20,” the FIGC said in a statement.
Although there have been no official transfers in Italy as football has been suspended since March 9. Italy was the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic in March, their death toll currently sits at over 32, 000.
