National Basketball League (NBL) player, Andrew Bogut took to Twitter on Monday, May 25. He announced that he would not be re-signing with the Sydney Kings.
Bogut told his followers that with the current uncertainty surrounding the sporting world due to the COVID-19 pandemic he has opted not to re-sign. Bogut has spent two seasons with the Australian franchise in the NBL after signing in 2018.
“I have decided not to sign with the Sydney Kings, or any professional sporting team for that matter for the time being,” said in a statement on Twitter.

“With everything going on in the world the future does not look too clear, most notably in regards to sporting leagues worldwide,” he added.
The 35-year-old won a National Basketball Association title with the Golden State Warriors in 2015. His most notable achievement at the Kings was capturing the MVP in the 2018/19 season.
“The reason I have decided to do this now is to give the Sydney Kings enough notice to act accordingly with free agency being around the corner,” Bogut wrote on Twitter.
The former Warriors player reiterated that he was not retiring but rather using the time to reassess his options. In addition, Bogut said he was enjoying the time off and did not want to rush his next move.

“This by no means is a retirement note, but simply saying any concrete decisions are too hard to be made at this point in time,” Bogut added.
The NBL finals have been cancelled due to COVID-19. The Kings trailed the Perth Wildcats 2-1 in the best-of-five finals series. Therefore, the Kings were announced as runners up.
