Fernando Alonso is currently in talks with racing giants Renault as he looks to make a return to Formula 1. This just a week after Sebastian Vettel announced that he would be leaving Ferrari when his contract expires.

Fernando Alonso is currently in talks with racing giants Renault as he looks to make a return to Formula 1. This just a week after Sebastian Vettel announced that he would be leaving Ferrari when his contract expires.

According to Flavio Briatore who is Alonso’s main advisor, the racing legend is currently in talks with Renault.

The possibility of Fernando Alonso returning to F1 now raises speculation as to who may end up joining Renault as there was talk of Sebastian Vettel joining up with them upon his departure from Ferrari.

Alonso, who is a two-time world champion previously raced with the Mild Seven Renault Team from 2003-2006 before leaving for McLaren Mercedes in 2007. He then rejoined ING Renault in 2088 and 2009  before heading to Ferrari.

He later left F1 in 2018 as he began his conquest to win the Triple Crown of Motorsport by competing in the Indy 500 and Dakar Rally in 2020.

Having already won the Monaco Grand Prix and Le Mans, Alonso finds himself just one trophy away from winning the unofficial title, with the Indy 500 being his last obstacle.

According to Flavio Briatore:

Between the possibility of the racing legend’s return as well as speculation into the future for both Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel. Lewis Hamilton is yet to confirm whether or not he will be remaining with Mercedes once his contract expires, whereas Sebastian Vettel as not given any hints as to who he will be signing with now that he is leaving Ferrari.

When Formula 1 finally resumes after the current coronavirus pandemic, the motorsports world we will find before us may be totally different from the one we left behind.
