Percy Tau is on the radar of another Belgian side with Anderlecht seeking a loan deal from English side Brighton & Hove Albion for the Bafana Bafana star.
It would be something of a controversial switch, with Percy Tau having played for Anderlecht’s bitter rivals Club Brugge last season, where he claimed the league title and played in the Uefa Champions League.
Belgian publication HLN says that “barring surprises”, Percy Tau will turn out for Vincent Kompany’s side in the new campaign, which would be his third club in Belgium after he also played at second-tier Royale Union St Gilloise after arriving at Brighton.
He is reportedly undergoing a medical in South Africa, but there are not expected to be any challenges with the deal going through.
Difficulties in obtaining a work permit for England have stymied his chances in the Premier League after a 2017 switch from Mamelodi Sundowns, but he has excelled in his two seasons in Belgium, even if his form dipped slightly at the start of 2020.
He was also on the wanted list of Antwerp, but Anderlecht provides a much bigger platform and challenge.
The club finished a disappointing eighth last season, but are one of the biggest in Belgium and have former Manchester City star Kompany in their side.
Kompany had rejoined Anderlecht at the start of last season as player-manager, but handed over the coaching duties during matches to Franky Vercauteren to focus on playing.
