Zinnbauer: No Complacency From Orlando Pirates

“For me, it is important that we prepare the team for next season. But we will fight for all points,”

Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer says there would be no complacency from his club as they prepare to face Mamelodi Sundowns in the Absa Premiership.

The match is the first in the resumption of the league season and will be played at the unfamiliar Dobsonville Stadium, Mamelodi Sundowns home ground for the remainder of the campaign.

Orlando Pirates are still mathematically in with a chance of winning the league, and victory on Tuesday would close the gap on leader Kaizer Chiefs to five points, though they will have played two games more.

But Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer conceded it is more likely they are playing for second place at best, though he insists his side will go all out for the three points.

“For me, it is important that we prepare the team for next season. But we will fight for all points,” Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer told reporters.

“As a coach and as a team you always want the best. It is normal. I come there to join Pirates [when they were] in 11th or 12th place in the table and now we grow up and we have a good position.”

“We have no big pressure. Sundowns have to fight for the title and need the points more than us.”

It will be a second match back for Mamelodi Sundowns after they defeated BidVest Wits 3-2 in the Nedbank Cup semifinals on Saturday, and Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer is expecting plenty of changes.

“We watched the game and we have the information‚ we have analysed the squad. Pitso [Mosimane] is a good coach‚ one of the best in this country. For us it is important we do what we do.”

“But Sundowns have such a big squad and my feeling was Pitso will change and will give players like [Andile] Jali and [Tebogo] Langerman and other players [a run]. Maybe he saved the energy for us.”

“I think Pitso [has] the system to change the players and we will put out a completely [different] squad [on Tuesday].”
