Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton insists Formula One chiefs need to ensure incoming regulations make the sport more competitive.
Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas were the pre-race favourites at Silverstone and only a tyre failure opened the door for a non-Mercedes driver – Max Verstappen – to potentially beat the Brit.

The reigning champions would have claimed another comfortable one-two finish had it not been for a pair of delaminations, which saw Bottas slip down to 11th and Hamilton limp over the line for victory.
Red Bull‘s Verstappen will be hoping to go one better than his second-place finish and secure his first win of the 2020 campaign next time around.
While Hamilton would love to be going wheel-to-wheel with the likes of Verstappen and Ferrari‘s Charles Leclerc, he admits Mercedes are a long way ahead of their rivals.
“Honestly, look, I’m a through and through racer at heart,” said Lewis Hamilton, while sitting between Verstappen and Leclerc.
“I’ve grown up, particularly when you’re in karting, you’ve got the wheel-to-wheel racing, that’s what has always excited me, and that’s what gets me up in the morning.”
“This is not the championship fight I would have hoped for. I’d much, much prefer to be having a super-close battle with these two here because that’s what gets me going.”

“I think I’m still putting in the laps that are required but it’s not a close battle with Max in qualifying and the same with Charles.”
Verstappen sits 30 points adrift of leader Hamilton in the drivers’ standings, with Bottas separating them.
