Real Madrid has made a £137 million offer to sign Paris St-German forward Kylian Mbappe.
The 22-year-old French World Cup winner officially joined PSG in 2017 in a £165.7 million transfer, and his contract will formally expire in June 2022.
Kylian Mbappe has 133 goals in 174 matches for PSG. He has also won three Ligue 1 titles as well as three French Cups.
Real Madrid, which has been plagued by serious financial problems, only signed defender David Alaba on a free transfer from Bayern Munich this summer.
However, high-earning players Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane have moved on, to PSG and Manchester United, respectively, and Real evidently feel confident enough in their finances to make an approach for one of the world’s most highly-rated players.
Currently, it is unclear how the fee will be structured for payment, but if Real Madrid is successful, a number of deals could be completed before the transfer deadline.
PSG, which has yet to respond to the bid, signed Argentina forward Lionel Messi after he left Barcelona earlier this month.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Juventus is unknown, and PSG is rumored to be interested in signing him, raising the intriguing prospect of a collaboration with Lionel Messi, his rival for the world’s best player for well over a decade.
Manchester City is one of the clubs that has been offered Ronaldo but is not believed to be interested in a deal. Both Ronaldo and Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri denied last week that the forward wanted to leave.
