Jadon Sancho of Manchester United will miss England’s World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Poland due to a “minor knock.”
The 21-year-old was injured in training earlier this week and did not play in Thursday’s victory over Hungary. He will now return to his club, leaving Gareth Southgate with a squad of 23 players.
According to an English statement, Sancho is “expected to recover in time” to play for Manchester United against Newcastle on Saturday, September 11th.
Sancho has appeared in all three Premier League games for Manchester United since joining for £73 million from German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in the summer.
Jadon Sancho made his debut in their 1-0 victory over Wolves before the international break. In 22 England appearances, the former Manchester City youth player has three goals.
In his last appearance for the Three Lions, he saved a penalty in the European Championship final shootout loss to Italy.
England will play Andorra on Sunday (17:00 BST), before traveling to Poland on Wednesday (19:45 BST).
